Not much is known about Staff-Sergt Moss, but his extraordinary physique is a testament to the power of bodyweight exercise and light dumbbell exercise.
In his book, Handbook of Free Gymnastics, written in the early 1900’s, Staff-Sergt Moss explains the Swedish System of bodyweight exercise.
His exercise selections are as valuable today as they were almost 100 years ago.
Even after all these years, this bodyweight exercise program can still be used to improve fitness, health and physique without the use of equipment.
As a matter of fact, I modeled the Preparation Phase Workout in Workout Without Weights after his recommendations (with a few exceptions).
Not only was Staff-Sergt Moss a legendary strongman and author... but he was a pioneer in teaching physical fitness through the mail.

As stated above, I based the Preparation Phase Workout in my book Workout Without Weights: Bodyweight Calisthenics Exercise Progression System after the book Handbook of Free Gymnastics by Staff-Sergt Moss.
It remains and excellent bodyweight exercise program for getting used to adding physical activity to your lifestyle.
This program alone could serve you well for fitness, health and physique improvement.
When you move on to the 6 Progression Phase Workouts and 10 OptiFitness Phase Workouts... the workout by Staff-Sergt Moss should still be use on light days for recovery.
Staff-Sergt. Moss knew bodyweight calisthenics, when used in a proper and consistent fashion, could produce a high performance body that looks great.
