Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about Coach Eddie Lomax, |
Q: Can bodyweight only exercises really make you stronger?
A: Once and for all... yes!
Ok... let me clarify.
Many people can't perform a push up or pull up in good form... then they do a program like Workout Without Weights and they improve.
They got stronger.
Even people who lift weights can see specific strength improvement using bodyweight only exercises.
Just because a person can bench press... does not mean they are good at push ups.
Q: If I do bodyweight calisthenics, do I have to do separate cardio?
A: It depends on your goals.
A bodyweight calisthenics exercise program performed on a consistent basis will greatly improve fitness, health and physique.
Even the Preparation Phase Workout in Workout Without Weights done on a daily basis will produce life changing results.
The combination of bodyweight exercises and calisthenics exercises can improve muscle tone, flexibility, coordination, agility, cardiorespiratory endurance, strength etc.... without having to do added cardio workouts.
They are even effective at burning fat.
However, depending on your goals, the best results can be seen in combining bodyweight calisthenics with other forms of cardio... intervals being the best choice.
Q: Can I do bodyweight exercises every day?
A: You could, and should do some type of bodyweight exercise every day.
Now, before you try to go all out every day... it depends on the intensity.
Joint mobility exercise and stretching, like shown in Prepare & Repair, can be done everyday to keep the joints and muscles healthy.
However, the Progressive Phase or OptiFitness Phase workouts of Workout Without Weights should not be done everyday due to the increased intensity of the programs.
You already do bodyweight exercise every day... walking.
So, yes you can... depending on the type, intensity and duration of the training.
Q: Do you recommend ONLY doing bodyweight calisthenics exercise?
A: No.
I am in favor of various types of fitness training methods... and believe the best results can be achieved by using a combination.
I do believe bodyweight calisthenics exercise should be an integral part of ANY well-rounded fitness program.
A program like Workout Without Weights is designed to be a stand alone program... giving you the best fitness, health and physique improvements without equipment.
However, using other methods are not only recommended... but encouraged!
