Build Muscle Without Weights!

Most people are under the impression you can’t build muscle without weights... well that is just not so!

 

Yes, I agree, weight lifting and other forms of resistance exercise are excellent at building muscle.

 

But to say you can’t build muscle without weights is ridiculous.

 

Push Ups

Have you ever seen someone go away to boot camp only to come back months later a completely changed person... usually leaner and more muscular!

 

This physique transformation occurred predominantly due to bodyweight calisthenics exercises.

 

Have you ever turned on the Olympics and watched a gymnastics competition... those muscular bodies were created predominantly due to bodyweight only exercises.

 

So, I think you’ll agree... you CAN build muscle without weights!

 

Olympic Exercise

Still not convinced you can build muscle without weights?

 

Ok, think about it this way.

 

To say you can’t build muscle without weights is like saying a person who lays on the couch will have the same muscular growth as someone who performs a bodyweight calisthenics program.

 

I assure you, the person doing the bodyweight program will have a better, leaner and more muscular body!

The other day, I received an email from a customer who is currently using Workout Without Weights. He is a 53 year old, ex-Marine who was involved with weight lifting for the effects you are “supposed” to get. He didn’t get them. However, after switching to a calisthenics program he feels and looks better... his wife even says so!

I think to look at exercise from the point of view of how much muscle it builds is shortsighted.

 

I am an advocate of using many different training methods to improve the body... free weight exercises AND bodyweight exercises.

 

But bodyweight exercise is the perfect place to start physical training and should remain and integral part of any well balanced fitness program.

 

Ok, weight lifting will probably build more muscle than bodyweight exercises... but so what?

 

Bodyweight calisthenics will improve strength, power, cardiorespiratory endurance, speed, flexibility, balance, coordination, agility, accuracy and mental toughness... as well as build muscle without weights!

 

Now that sounds like an exercise program worth doing!
